SurfControl Acquires VC-Backed Rival Black Spider
Internet security firm, Surfcontrol has acquired Black Spider Technologies, a vendor of on-demand email and web security services, for £20M. Black Spider was loss-making and had sales of £1.8M in the year prior to the acquisition.
Founded in 2002, BlackSpider Technologies had raised some £4.6M in expansion financing from Cazenove Private Equity in 2004 and an angel round of £1.1 million.
