UK's Si-Light Raises Seed For Light Emission Tech
Si-Light Technologies out of Surrey, UK has raised ab out $280K in seed funding. The startup is working on "dislocation engineering" enabling light emission from silicon at wavelengths between 1.1 and 1.6 microns. The intended application area is likely to be short-haul optical communications such as rack-to-rack, PC to peripheral and, potentially, automotive multiplex wiring.
