Upcoming Events In The Euro Venture Market
EVCA Venture Capital Forum .
Held in Barcelona, this conf used to be called the "technology" conference but they've dropped the tech from the title in order to attract more life sciences people. It's worthwhile going to this one. (We heard about Martin Varsavsky's latest FON venture there, for example, two years before he raised venture funding for it.)
European Energy Venture Fair in Zurich. This is another conference we've been going to for years. A couple of things make it stand out besides the venue, which is all clean lines, high ceilings, and big windows looking out onto the Lake of Zurich, is getting a chance to hear from the institutional investors that turn up that have a long term view on this type of investment, in addition to specialist VCs, and we'd say the quality of the startups that demo there is usually high.
European Venture Market ICT&related Held in Potsdam on 4th-6th of October 2006 at the new Hasso Plattner Institut. We've never been to one of these conference before but the program scope is intriguing: Software, Hardware, Telecom, Mobile Application, Internet, Semiconductor, Communication, Systems, eCommerce, Media (incl. TV, games), Services, Related Electronic, Sensortechnology, Measuring and Conducting Technology, Automatization Technology, Robotics, Printing/Copying/Scanning Technolog. It is for companies seeking early stage and growth financing - not for seed stage ventures.
