Autodesk Acquires Rabobat For $33M

Autodesk has completed another acquisition in Europe, its fourth in the past year or so, with the buy of long-time technology partner, Grenoble-based Robobat, for $33 million in USD cash. Last year it bought Germany's Compass Systems, Switzerland's C-Plan and France's Solid Dynamics.
Robobat had annual sales of $11.9M in 2005, up 27 % over the previous year, with 160 employees on its payroll.
It looks like it went cheaply but we couldn't find any info on Robobat's profitabiliy. Autodesk said it acquired the company to add to its current software offerings to the structural engineering industry.
The French company received €1.5M in expansion capital from Banque de Vizille back in 2000. If it was an equity stake and a good sized one, the bank did well on its investment. Either way, the company's founders have a nice windfall.
Interestingly, although it's hq is in France, Robobat has operations in Krakow, Poland and was founded back in 1988. Autodesk says the software from Robobat has been used by Stade de France and for the proposed Shanghai South Rail Station, and a new hangar for the Airbus A380 aircraft.
