OpenCloud Raises $10.25M To Push Fixed-Mobile Convergence

UK-based OpenCloud, a developer of an application delivery platform for telcos, has raised $10.25M from UK venture capital firm, Advent Venture Partners, New Zealand venture capital firm No. 8 Ventures, and Motorola Ventures.
The new money is to be used to invest in sales, marketing, delivery and product development in Europe, the US and Asia. OpenCloud's platform is based on an enterprise class of Java.
The company was founded in 2000. OpenCloud's products address issues faced by carriers and operators that want to run IP services and applications on their mobile networks and mobile-enable services from the fixed side. We could not find a list of customer wins on OpenCloud's site. So the big question is how quickly carriers are going to move on this hoped for trend.
Maybe we are behind in our telco sector news consumption -- but it seems like we've been hearing more about fixed-mobile convergence from market researchers and forecsaters, than we have from industry participants.
