Benchmark Backs Zubka's Recruiting Exchange

Zubka.com, an online human resources recruitment and referral platform, has raised first-round venture funding from Benchmark Capital Europe. No financial terms were disclosed, except that the round was in the “multi-million British pounds.” The announcement late last week confirmed the rumor that the Vecosys blog first posted last month, giving Klaus Hommels credit for the deal (he's a venture partner for Benchmark).
Benchmark doesn't stray very far from its roots with this tried and true Internet model - the online person to person exchange that charges a small toll and enables its users to make some extra cash. It made its name in VC in Silicon Valley with eBay, and over here in Europe Betfair and Zopa are a couple of others that it has its dibs on.

Zubka is targeting the European market with the appropriate languages coded in. It's a clone of similar sites in the US and is based in the UK company. Over in France, there is JobMeeters too, according to Sepulveda.net blog.
Zubka says it charges significantly less than traditional recruitment firms and gives 80% of all recruitment fees it earns to the referrer. It was founded in 2006 by David Shieldhouse and Armando Ruffini.
