IXEurope Offered $420M For Colocation Company
IX Europe, an AIM traded Internet and telecoms co-location company that manages about 14 datacenters in Europe, some of which it built and some it acquired during the downturn, has received a $482M offer from Equinix. The terms of the deal would see the two founders, Guy Wilner and Christope du Buchet stay on for period of time post-acquisition.

Those founders must have steady hands. They steered the company throught the dotcom boom and bust, managing to grow revenues year-on-year at over 30% every year, while continuously raising the capital required to put up purpose-built constructions in Europe's most pricey but convenient locations. Wilner used to make the rounds on the fundraising circuit saying "you can't build infrastructure with air".

What it takes to keep your routers and networking gear cool.
It wasn't VC that supplied the capital, it is worth noting, rather it was a couple of mid-market private equity houses that were its main backers. IXEurope floated on AIM in April 2006.
