Optical Networking Startup Taps Dietmar Hopp's Fund

ROADM is the buzzword on this one. Swet Optics, an optical filter startup founded by Majk Kupferberg in Germany along with his Russian co-founder who honed Swet's technology, have raised new capital from Hightech Venture Partners GmbH, the low key investment vehicle of SAP co-founder Dietmar Hopp.
Earlier this year Frankfurt am Main-based Swet raised €500K seed funding from the Hightechgründerfonds. The one year old venture is at the prototype phase and makes the pitch that it has "the fastest, the most flexible and efficient optical filter world-wide". It is targeting a currently vibrant segment of the networking components market, namely reconfigurable add-drop-mulitplexers and it says it can deliver it on a single chip.
