Light Blue Optics Raises $26M Series A With Euro Investors
Earlybird notified us today that it co-led, along with Belgian venture firm Capital-E, a $26M Series A round in Light Blue Optics, a UK startup that has the technology to enable small-sized projectors. They join seed investor 3i.
EE Times said that the deal comes on the back of the release of engineering-ready samples to potential customers for R&D purposes.
The startup was founded in 2004 and was backed angels until last year when 3i invested a seed capital round. Since then it has moved from prototypes to sampling and signed on with industry partners, like Thales for a airplane cockpit application, which probably explains why it's A round is the size of a European semiconductor B or C round.
