Optical M&A in Germany and France
Two rare optoelectronics-related M&A deals were announced this week, one in Germany and one in France. No disclosure on the size of either deal.
Jenoptik acquired Epigap, an optical sensor and chip developer. Epigap's products are sold in the automotive industry, medical technology, the military and security industry and in lighting technology.
Venture-backed OneAccess, a French vendor of enterprise access routers and IP services, has acquired AETA.COM which develops fiber optics networking gear that has been targetted at niche applications, such as broadband systems on airliners. It says it develops ultra high-speed Ethernet point-to-point and point-to-multipoint solutions.
OneAccess also pointed out in the same announcement that this is its third acquisition in the three years. It also acquired European Vanguard, a managed services provider, and Telindus Access Products (TAP), a division of Telindus Group, which makes business class routers and gear. As a result of this latest acquisition, OneAccess headcount is now 275.
