Berlin's SoundCloud Raises €2.5M

soundcloud.png
Berlin's SoundCloud has raised €2.5M in Series A from Doughty Hanson Technology Ventures. The startup sells an online audio platform for music professionals. They claim to have 100K users at this point who use the platform to collaborate on music making no matter what location the musicians might reside. Then Soundcloud will allow you to distribute your music.

It seems like a decent idea to focus on the pro musicians at this points, who will pay a subscription, rather than the more common model or running ads on music download pages, a model that has been a rough ride for sites like Imeem.

Soundcloud is led by first time CEO Alexander Ljung, who founded the company 2 years ago.
