Cendura - Profile
HQ: Mountain View, CA with half of the company working out of India.
Founded: 2001
Management: Founder/CEO is Pavan Nigam, co-founder of Healtheon with Jim Clarke. Before that he ran Silicon Graphics' Interactive TV project for Clarke.
Investors: Healtheon-wealthy Founder CEO seeded the company himself. Series B was $8M in May 2004 led by NeoCarta. The company has raised a total of $16M total from New Enterprise Associates, Crosslink Capital, and Silicon Valley Bank.
Business Model: Sells software and blueprints that make it easier for programmers to create Web applications. Has sold to a good dozen or more companies to date.
Competitors: Troux and ConfigureSoft.
Dirt: Such tools are a notoriously tough sell because so many programmers take pride in free coding. Certainly Rational Software (now IBM) and others have succeeded but it's a slog.
