Management: Not your typical VC-backed management team as leaders are not serial entreprenuers, rather they have been plugging away at PlanView for over a decade.

Investors: Apax Partners invested $25M in November 2004. We believe that is the one and only outside investment. These days, Apax is investing in profitable, larger companies so it's a safe assumption that this is the last round of funding for PlanView before an IPO, or possibly an acquisition.

Business Model: Company sells Web-based applications for IT planning and management. Company has more than 350 of its target clients in the Global 3000.

Competitors: Compuware/Changepoint, Prosight, Primavera.

Dirt: Space is so boring we can't stop laughing (or snoring). That said, PlanView appears to have a lead in product development. It took the $25M to muscle against Changepoint now that it has been acquired by Compuware.
