LiteScape Technologies - Profile

litescape.gif

HQ: Foster City, CA

Founded: 2004

Management: Farzad Naimi is Co-founder, Chairman and CEO. He was co-founder and Chairman of Genesys Labs which IPOd in 1997 and was acquired by Alcatel for $1.5B. He has nice global experience having done successful startups in Japan and Brazil.

Investors: LiteScape raised $7.5M in Series A led by Softbank Capital Partners, Blumberg Capital, and Telesoft Partners.

Business Model: Company has developed a VoIP platform used by businesses to manage various applications that are using VoiP - data, voice, and broadcast. In 2004, LiteScape acquired Circle24 Technologies, which essentially jump-started Litescape's technology development, making it easier for the company to raise money. Currently, Litescape is being sold via Cisco and Avaya.

Competitors: Zultys, Mera Systems.

Dirt: Its early days as the company boasts of only one implementation, but we like the market and the team appears solid. We are particularly stoked on Litescape because they can be built into Cisco VoIP phones which rock and we think will soon be everywhere.
