Celerica - Profile
HQ: Tel Aviv, Israel
Founded: 2000
Management: Pini Sabach is CEO - but that's all we know because Celerica has a lame website.
Investors: Recent funding of $8M from Pitango VC, Charles River Ventures, Star Ventures and Platinum Ventures, all of whom are existing investors. This brings the total invested to $28M.
Business Model: Celerica makes products that allow mobile network operators to get more capacity out of their networks. The Company specializes in extending RF coverage and optimizing network capacity distribution of mobile communications in urban, suburban and rural areas, using optical wireless, fiber optics and microwave technologies. The products are aimed at applications where traditional RF solutions are coming up short because of interference or signal deterioration problems.
Competitors: Raytheon, Lucent, Nortel.
Dirt: It's not a stretch to say that wireless networks face increasing demands on their spectrum and infrastructure resources. According to one industry trade group: "Increased minutes of use, capacity-intensive data applications and the steady growth of worldwide wireless subscribers mean carriers will have to find effective ways to accommodate increased wireless traffic in their networks." Well, looks like Celerica has a market.

Edmonton dominated the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday night and the 4-0 margin in Game 6 makes it hard to imagine the Oilers not hoisting hockey's Holy Grail above their heads in less than 48 hours. And it would not come as any shock to see defenseman Chris Pronger, who had another 31-minute night, take the honors for the Conn Smythe Trophy as the playoff MVP.
