Wall Street Journal's D3 Is Not A Sausage Fest
![]()
The tech conference season is in full swing and we are coming to terms with the fact that based on the events we've attended tech remains a male sector where hotel lobbies are jammed with dudes standing nut-to-but. Sure we see the occasional PR gal and a metrosexual or two but tech events seem to have taken a turn for the worse.
We see Kara Swisher's hand in the Wall Street Journal D3's speaker selection, making a valiant (if unsuccessful) attempt to even the mix. Speakers are fronted by big swingers including Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Paul Ottelini, and Mel Karmazin but then they round it out with females who surely don't belong on the list but are nevertheless females - Wonkette's Anna Marie Cox and Six Apart co-founder Mena Trott.

Edmonton dominated the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday night and the 4-0 margin in Game 6 makes it hard to imagine the Oilers not hoisting hockey's Holy Grail above their heads in less than 48 hours. And it would not come as any shock to see defenseman Chris Pronger, who had another 31-minute night, take the honors for the Conn Smythe Trophy as the playoff MVP.
