Akimbo's Press Tour

The Akimbo team went on the road to meet with press to promote their TV-via-the-Internet product. What did they get for their troubles? Some choice quotes from the New York Times: "In short, Akimbo is a train wreck" and "It might just walk away with High-Tech Turkey of the Year."
Just last week, we wondered why there is not more Internet video start-up activity. The Times review provides one answer. Given the maturity of music online, expectations for video online are just as high. To be fair, Akimbo received a mixed set of reviews. Engadget's summary is that "There’s a lot to like, though, and there’s a lot of promise here." Businessweek gives a more mixed review. But both seemed to be looking to the future of Akimbo, rather than at the startup's current offerings.

Edmonton dominated the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday night and the 4-0 margin in Game 6 makes it hard to imagine the Oilers not hoisting hockey's Holy Grail above their heads in less than 48 hours. And it would not come as any shock to see defenseman Chris Pronger, who had another 31-minute night, take the honors for the Conn Smythe Trophy as the playoff MVP.
