And The Emmy Goes To MobiTV

mobitv.jpg

The big CTIAA wirless show in San Francisco is happening this week, and the Berkeley-based startup MobiTV is getting a lot of well-deserved attention. As we had written in MIT Technology Review, wireless TV is coming of age, and it appears that MobiTV has an early lead. The company recently won an emmy for its engineering breakthrough. More importantly, it already has half a million subscribers paying its partners - Cingular, Verizon, and Sprint PCS in the United States and Orange in the U.K. - nearly $10 p/mo.

Among other investors, MobiTV is backed by Redpoint and Menlo Ventures.
