Rakuten Joins The Monster M&A Club

We hung out last night with an old friend who is close with Rakuten CEO Hiroshi Mikitani. In the aftermath of his $425M buy of Linkshare earlier this month, Mikitani-san has a lot of people stateside hearing of Rakuten for the first time. And we understand that Mikitani's deal-making is far from done. With a market cap of nearly $10B, Rakuten joins ranks with Yahoo, Google, Microsoft, eBay, NewsCorp, InterActive Corp, and a few others that can do billion dollar deals.
