Chicago: City of Arms & Sox, But Not Tech

Respect to the South Side of Chicago on their World Series win. As it happens, we heard over the weekend from an Internet CEO based in Chicago, who honestly acknowledged that there isn't much in the way of tech ventures happening in Chi-town.

It is somewhat surprising that the second city doesn't have more of a tech life. It's a city of great universities and great capital. Startups that are making a go of it in Chicago include: Feedburner, 37 signals, Threadless, and Coudal Partners. These companies generally have to look outside the city of Chicago for venture capital.
