Not In My Backyard.com
Most Web content companies that we have seen lately begin with an idea that will draw an audience. In the case of Backyard.com, we see a pretty bald attempt to appeal to advertisers who are hungry for a local audience, and then a scramble to develop a community. But there is nothing unique of interesting about the Web site.
Backfence has just raised $3M from from SAS Investors and Omidyar Network as well as angel investors such as Frank Bonsal Jr., co-founder of New Enterprise Associate. Advisors include Michael Rodgers, former GM of Newsweek.com and WashPost.com and Merrill Brown, founder of MSNBC.
Despite all the money and luminaries and proprietary technology platform, check the traffic. Nobody gives a rat's ass about this network.
