The Blogosphere Doesn't Follow The Money

The Blogger's Hero
VC Brad Feld is a kindred spirit with his complaint post expressing that he "was stunned by the amount of discussion about the Yahoo/del.icio.us deal....There was a very large and interesting deal done on Monday last week that arguably has much greater importance to the structure of the tech/media business than Yahoo/ del.icio.us and it had extremely little coverage by the tech bloggers. Can you name that deal? Liberty Media acquired Provide Commerce for $477 million. " Feld concludes: "I’m perplexed. Fortunately I have a two hour run today to ponder this more."
The a:c had recently expressed similar bewilderment about the amount of blogosphere attention paid to the acquisitions of Moreover - which was a wash to investors; WeblogsInc; Weblogs; and Upcoming.org while at the same time there was scant blog attention paid to Checkpoint's $225M acquisition of Sourcefire.

So What If They Make A Lot of Money. They Are So Web 1.0
The conclusion that we draw is that the blogosphere would be a lousy VC firm. A half-billion dollar buyout might go unremarked upon, but a consumer-facing Web 2.0 company sold to Yahoo! or Google at a $20M - $40M valuation will set the blog world on fire.

Even The Market Can Have A Good Day During A Recession
Wednesday December 3, 2008
With today's 270 point gain, a few people must feel pretty stupid pinning yesterday's drop in the market on the recession proclamation. Sure the "experts" can say that the market "overreacted" to the news but the reality is that's not the case. The ... Full Story
