Benchmark Puts Two Dogs In The Same Pit
With peer-to-peer lending outfit Zopa in the news for its recent funding event and expansion to the US, a:c readers are asking why Benchmark is investing in both Zopa and its primary rival Prosper.com? Doesn't this irk the entrepreneurs; particularly Zopa which arrived on the scene first - Prosper.com appears to be a state-side clone.
It is interesting that Benchmark has also done this with 3D virtual worlds, investing in Linden Labs (Second Life) in California, and Linden's European Rival Sulake Labs (The HabboHotel).
We are making an attempt to reach Zopa, Prosper, and Benchmark -- we'll let you know if we hear anything.
