Marchex Pays $13M For Losing Biz With Revs of Just $150K
Open List, an online hotel & food review search and content aggregation engine has been bought by Marchex for $13M. Marchex has been domain squatting and plans to run Open-list's content on domains it owns like: lasvegasvacations.com, 90210.com, newyorkdining.com, frenchrestaurants.com, and chicagoluxuryhotels.com. OpenList is a bit of a mystery. It's portal gets very little traffic. Given how long it has been in business, we would see this as an indictment of its technology. On the other hand, it has been able to white label its technology to sites like Boston.com. Still, we don't get how these guys were able to land such a sweet multiple on earnings.... Continue...

The Pirate Bay Blasted - Hollywood Lawyers Always Win
A year ago we posted on the taunting jibes delivered by the Sweden-based BitTorrent distributor The Pirate Bay. Today we learn that Swedish police have raided The Pirate Bay and detained three men - the file sharing site has been toppled. Hollywood has put relentless pressure on the Swedish government to take action against The Pirate Bay. Despite the fatal blow, a founder of the Pirate Bay may have the last word. He has founded a political party in Sweden - the Pirate Party - to fully legalize IP piracy. The following open letter was posted on The Pirate Bay until the day the site was torn down... China's eHarmony Raises $9M to Target Nascent China Online Dating Market
Baihe.com has raised $9M from NEA and Northern Light in its second round of fundraising. The company has raised $11M in total after GSR and Mayfield pumped $2M into it last year. Baihe claims more than 5.5M registered users, hopes to create its niche by offering fee-based services. China's online dating market is expected to reach 653M yuan (US$81M ) by 2008, with an annual growth rate of 60%, according to a recent iResearch report.
