IdeaLab's Solar Deal Gets $25M

energy innovations logo.jpg
We have posted on Pasadena-based Energy Innovations before. This is the startup that was founded by Idealab's Bill Gross, who is Chairman and CEO and its President is Andrew Beebe.

The company is developing low-cost rooftop photovoltaic solar concentrator systems. In addition to Idealab Mohr, Davidow is a major share-holder. The startup says it plans to ship its first products for commercial roof-tops by the end of the year.

It will be interesting to see how Energy Innovations' product - The Sunflower - competes with a new line of low-cost printable solar panels that is coming out. Our guess is that the Sunflower is much more expensive but that it is more powerful.
