Shoes + eCommerce = The Real Deal

shoes.com logo.gif
The Zappos story is well known. That start-up which found the gravy train for itself selling shoes online. But we keep doing double takes seeing how many sites are hitting gold with shoe eCommerce sites.

In the first quarter of 2006 Shoes.com, an operating unit of Brown Shoe Co., grew its web sales by 79% to $12M from $6.7M in Q1 2005. Meanwhile, Foot Locker increased its web sales 16% in the first quarter of 2006 while total sales (in-store) declined by 1%.

Last January, Barry Diller's IAC Bought eCommece company Shoebuy.com for an undisclosed amount. We expect to see Shoes.com might be the next to cash in.
