Ingram Buys eBook's VitalSource

vitalsource logo.png The world's biggest text book distributor, Ingram, has bought the eBook software company VitalSource.

Founded in 1994, VitalSource sells digital content for educational sectors as dental, nursing and law. Students and
faculty acquire content in the company's VitalBook file format through a variety of channels using the VitalSource "Bookshelf" application.

VitalSource enables search across a collection of title. User can annotate and highlight digital course work.. Publishers and distributors use the VitalSource platform to manage, distribute and track their digital products under a variety of business models, including textbook sales, free demos, study guides, custom course packs, and curriculum bundles.
