Cell Phone BigBrother - Carrier IQ - Gets $10M

WebTV co-founder Bruce Leak is back, this time as CEO of wireless data start-up Carrier IQ. The Mountain Viewbased provider of embedded analytics for the wireless industry, has secured $10M of a $12M Series A round, according to a PE Wire. Backers include Accel Partners, Charles River Ventures and Mohr, Davidow.

CarrierIQ will offer carriers and hand-set makers the ability to embed tracking technology into cell phones. We are not sure what information they will be able to offer clients, but it could be very instusive and undoubebly helpful to marketers.
