Pre-owned Cardboard Box Vendor Raises VC Funds

We have spent our fair share of time preparing for moves by driving behind grocery stores and grabbing their used boxes. It's a bit degrading. To save us from this, along comes Used Cardboard Boxes, a Santa Monica-based seller of used cardboard boxes. It has raised an undisclosed amount of seed funding from Funk Ventures plus some angels. "Environmentalism" is the start-ups primary selling point. Also, the new boxes that you might buy at a U-Haul are no bargain so pricing comes into play.

We tried out their site and it's not working yet as an eCommerce site, but we think this company's idea has merits. It's funny to see more non-tech VC actvity these days. Who would have guessed that we would see cardboard box and car wash start-ups get funding?
