Takkle: High School Sports Social Network Funded

Brooklyn-based Takkle has landed $1.12M of a $5M Series A round from Greycroft Partners, says PE Wire. The start-up has built a social network - primarily photo-based - built around high school sports.

We like Takkle's direction. High school athletes don't get the attention they are due. But so far it hasn't gotten off the blocks, pulled a snap or whatever. Takkle has no traffic and has little community involvement. Others, including YouTube, have tapped into MySpace to get an audience
