Digital Video Sector Had Shine On In August

Almost a 1/3 of the digital media companies that received VC funding during August are focused on Internet video, according to a research report from Rutberg & Co. Video-related companies racked up a total of $118.4M in VC funding during August, or 28.8% of the total $415.4M invested in digital media companies. To recap, the biggest video rounds went to:

PLANO, TX BIAP Systems raised $20M (Video servers)
AUSTIN, TX CoVi Technologies raised $15M (High-definition video surveillance)
HERNDON, VA Ruckus Network raised $13.7M (VOD servers for college campuses)
BURLINGAME, CA MeeVee raised $8M (Video search)
