Out of Israel, eSnips has raised $2M in Series A funding from Greylock Partners and Gemini Israel Funds. eSnips enables users to share content files on their websites with other users. The site currently has 1M registered users. eSnips’ business model is built on advertising revenue and e-commerce. The site still lists itself as in beta, although the company has been around since 2004.

Meanwhile, over in Louseville, CO, HiveLive, another social networking start-up, has raised around $1.15M in Series A funding led by Aeneas Ventures, according to a PE Wire. Still in closed beta, the idea here sounds a bit similar to eSnips. It wants to set up a sharing system for groups.
