Breaking Down The Beam, Post Funding

One of the fastest growing sites in the blogosphere is Treehugger, which caters to readers who want to buy more green products and services. The Beam is like Treehugger but is more of a directory of services. It site is called GreenBuildingBlocks.com which bills itself as a virtual green trade show. The Beam charges $20-$100 per month to list. The Cambridge, MA-based start-up has now raised $5.17M in Series A funding led by VantagePoint Venture Partners.
Based on the number of companies that post on TheBeam, we suspect they are pulling in some cash, although we suspect they seeded the service with some freebies to get people in the door.

They say this house is green.
