Israeli Digital Pen Co. Epos Raises $10.5M

epos logo.jpg
$10.5M strikes us as a fair amount of money for a speculative investment in a digital pen. EPOS Technologies, an Israel-based provider of digital positioning technology, has raised $10.5M in 2nd-round funding from Intel Capital and Walden Israel. The technology maybe awesome but to get a pay-out digital pens must become trendy. It has been a while since a peripheral start-up hit pay-dirt. So the odds are stacked against Epos.

Come next year you should be able to pick up this pen for $50

The positioning technology the pen uses works like sonar, detecting the pen's position by bouncing high frequency signals back and forth.
