Paying $15K To Demo Is Still A Great Deal

Thumb Today Jason Calacanis and Mike Arrington announced at the Demo event that they would go mano a mano with Demo with the TechCrunch20 event that they plan to launch. The pair must have received some nasty glares from the Demo organizers by calling the conference out for charging presenter as much as $15K to present. Conference attendees are suckered into thinking that those presenting are the cream of the crop. In our opinion if you have a startup and $15K in your bank account you could do a lot worse than to bribe Chris Shipley and company get on their podium. Organic Tea Maker Honest Tea Raises $12M

Thumb Apparently these guys make a mean brew of tea. Bethesda, MD-based HonestTea has raised $12M from Stonyfield Farm, Inventages Venture Capital Investment and several beverage distributors. The company has raised a total of roughly $20M. In 2006, the company had sales of $13.5M and is projecting sales of $25Mt his year. They are targeting $100M in annual sales within three to five years and reach profitability in 2008.
