CNET Stock Up; Invests in Stealth Search Co. Digger

digger logo.jpg
Its safe to say there has been a bit of a brain drain at CNET. Top brass left due to an options scandal. We also know of lower level staff who have left for startups.

Today we learn at DEMO that CNET has led a $1.5M investment in search startup Digger. CEO and founder Tim Musgrove was a Senior Research Fellow at CNET.

What is it? Here's their usage example: example: "A user who searches for 'electric car engineering' is likely to receive 'electric vehicle technology' as a recommendation out of many similar combinations. Digger.com automatically searches on its best initial guess, but with a couple of mouse clicks, you can easily redirect or refocus its decisions."

It's hard to imagine that many would stop using Google for this benefit but maybe Digger plans to integrate with other search engines. We"ll see.
