What Does A Guy Have To Do To Get A Mentor Around Here

techstarslogo.png
It has been a while since we have stepped foot in lovely Boulder, CO but it does seem like Maybury to our Gothams and Barbary Coasts. We get the feeling that the local techs give each other much more free time and assistance than the too important and busy folks on the coasts.

So it's no surprise to see that the startup mentoring outfit Tech Stars has arisen in Boulder. TechStars has 40 mentors who on board who meet with junior entrepreneurs to get them focussed and help them make the connections that they need. You don't necessarily have to live in Boulder to become a tech star but you would travel there to take part in their program.

In Michael Arrington's enthusiastic TechCrunch post on Tech Stars he notes that he plans to travel to Boulder to monitor goings-on. Maybe Mike will become the local Tech Stars Johnny Appleseed.

We have to say it would be great to have TechStars set up in Silicon Valley and environs but we doubt it will happen. The what-is-in-it-for-me question is just too pervasive in these parts.
