System For Drunk Testing That Requires Only Hand Touch Gets Funding

Winner of a Time Magazine Innovation award, TruTouch Technologies out of Albuquerque, NM has raised around $2.5M in Series B, says PE Wire. Shareholders include Flywheel Ventures, New Mexico Co-Investment Fund and Verge.

The TruTouch technology is a noninvasive, touch-based alcohol measurement that claims significant improvements in safety and ease-of-use compared to urine or blood testing. The technology employs near-infrared absorption spectroscopy to measure the concentration of alcohol by introducing light into the skin and collecting the light that returns to the tissue surface.
