TrialPay is a just emerging eCommerce startup in Mountain View that says it is backed by the investors of Skype, Google, and Akamai. Regulatory filings last December indicate that the startup raised $3.1M in Series A funding led by Battery Ventures.

Its payment platform enables customers to pay for one item by trying or buying something else. Its partners are in software, publishing, online services, and games.

An example is Encryptomatic which today says that customers can now acquire a single version of its email encryption software products, which would cost $60, at no direct cost thanks to TrialPay. The CEO and founder is Alastair Rampell, formerly with Rampell Software.
