Closed Beta College Age Social Network Funded

Seattle-based RIPL has raised $2M in Series A funding, according to a regulatory filing/PEHub. RIPL is currently in closed beta and is only open to students at a couple of universities. The site describes itself as "the new way for 18-24-year-olds to see what’s happening out on the Web, and jump right into the middle of it on the spur of the moment." It has ad-supported photo and music sharing.

The company is led by CEO Bill Messing who was: VP Strategic Development at United Online, VP Production & Programming at Classmates Online, and Director, MSN at Microsoft.
