GE Security Spun Out As VideoIQ With $8M Investment

Waltham, MA-based VideoIQ has spun out from GE Security, with $8M in Series A funding from Atlas Venture and Matrix Partners. Among other video security products, VideoIQ will sell a video analytics solution transforms video surveillance into a dynamic, real-time intelligent system that provides early warning of security breaches.

VideoIQ says its systems have logged more than 100M hours of video analysis. Its products have been working in and around chemical plants, water facilities, electrical utilities, border crossings and corporate campuses as well as in homes of executives.

The new company competes with other well funded video security analytics companies like an Francisco-based 3VR, Boulder-based Envysion, and others.
