IP Marketplace LegalForce Raises Seed Round

legalforce.png
We just posted on FatDoor, the other startup that is being launched by patent attorney Raj Abhyanker. While FatDoor is pre-launch, LegalForce is up and going. LegalForce seeks to bring intellectual property out of the patent office by offering a free searchable directory of US patents with links to attorney and inventor profiles. It is also a professional network for IP lawyers.

LegalForce is currently seed funded and says it is in the process of raising a $2M dollar Series A round. The company's advisors, and perhaps investors, include RockYou Founder Lance Tokuda, Sierra Ventures founder Jeff Drazen as well as IP lawyers Robert Barr and John White.

We decided to pass on the Trash Discriminator Device Patent available on LegalForce

We have to say we are very impressed with the breadth of data available on LegalForce. We were expecting the database to be seeded with a smaller number of patents, but there is a wealth of information here. LegalForce competes most directly with Patent Cafe and Yet2.com.
