How-to Video Pioneer 5Min Launches, Raises Seed

Ran Harnevo, CEO/co-founder of the Israeli-based site 5min lets us know that his startup has raised $300K in angel funding for the launch of his DIY instructional video business.

All credit to 5Min for wanting to do more than just aggregate videos. The startup created a video system specifically for instructional content. While uploading a video, the creator can help others better understand the demonstration by adding a textual storyboard to the video. 5min also allows viewers to watch the video in slow motion or frame by frame, zoom in and out, and more. We suspect this could be private labeled to other sites.

We recently posted on another site in the videopedia realm: London-based Videojug. We haven't checked out the Videojug site in a while but they have made a lot of progress. If these guys can make inroads with the world of wikis we think there is plenty of potential here.
