Wireless Intruder Buster Airtight Networks Raises $14.5M

Not long ago we did consulting work at a Fortune 500 company's HQ. The company hired heaps of outside contractors like us but its stupid IT department didn't trust an device to connected to its wireless network, so we contractors had to go to Starbucks every day to get email. We assume this is not uncommon and cheer companies like Airtight which can help make enterprise wireless access easier.
Mountain View-based AirTight Networks has closed a $14.5M Series C funding, the company led by CMEA Ventures. The firm has raised $36.75M to date.

Airtight's Enterprise grad software and server appliance, are not cheap. It lists for $9,995 and a higher-end model—with dual CPUs, more memory and more disk space—is available for $12,995. Sensors are priced at $795 each.
Once the product detects unknown wireless access points, clients or ad hoc networks, it automatically begins organizing these devices according to the level of risk they present for a company's network. It then decides whether to block, disrupt, interrupt or degrade.
AirTight competes with AirDefense which a year ago slapped Airtight with a patent infringement suit.
