World Golf Tour Social Network Raises 1nd Round

Golf social network World Golf Tour has secured its first round of funding from Battery Ventures, although the amount was not revealed. A key feature is that players can practice their virtual swing over a variety of courses within the photo-realistic site.

The company is led by JF Prata who was VP of product development at Electronic Arts and COO of Maxis and Westwood Studios.

The golf demographic is sought after so several social networks have sprung up around the sport. Just this week, publicly traded itLinkz launched Golfer Linkup.
