AOL Buys German Ad Network Adtech

adtech.png
Adtech AG is not the meat market conference by the same name but rather a large Germany-based ad network. A day after announcing that it bought mobile ad network Third Screen, AOL says it is paying an undisclosed amount for Adtech. Like Third Screen, the company will be filed into AOL's Advertising.com unit. The move shows how difficult it has been for US ad networks to server European markets well.

In addition to serving standard on-site banner ads, Adtech has a product for online ad agencies to manage their campaigns as well as an email marketing product.

Adtech recently released data on its Q4 in 2006, citing the addition of thirty new clients during the quarter. Adtech opened offices in New York and San Francisco. It said it delivered an average of more than 1B online ad impressions a day, reaching 700M users. New clients signed with Adtech during the quarter include Fotolog.com, Danish broadcaster TV2, British "National Magazine Company," the Norwegian "Telepress," nternational sports site "ESPN Soccernet." The company boasts that it increased 2006 sales by more than 65%.
