Bad News For Monster And CareerBuilder Is Good News For Niche Boards

Hiring managers are moving their attention and budgets out of Monster.com and CareerBuilder and on to niche sites. We had a hunch this was happening but are surprised how quickly it is happening. Monster.com's traffic fell 20% in February alone, seeing its unique visitors fall to about 6M. The problem is obvious for all to see. Hiring managers get too many of the wrong resumes when they apply on Monster or Hotjobs, but when they apply to niche sites they are self-selecting.
