Fox Buys Photo/Video Mashup's Flektor

flektor.png
Fox Interactive Media (News Corporation) says it has bought LA-based Flektor. Bootstrapped Flektor is a offers free Web-based tools to take photos and videos and create slideshows, postcards, live interactive presentations and video mash-ups. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Flektor was founded and funded by CEO Jason Rubin who comes out of the games business.

Flektor competes with any number of companies including Slide and Rockyou.

Fox also confirmed in the announcement what the blogoshphere had reported weeks ago - that it had bought Photobucket. (Modern PR really needs to catch up with the fast reporting cycles of the web.)

For Fox and MySpace these deals comes at a moment of sharp differences between it and Facebook. MySpace is telling outsiders to get off its yard whereas Facebook is throwing an open house.
