Japan's Multilingual Video Search Engine Foooo Raises Small Seed

foooo.png
Tokyo, Japan-based multilingual video search engine Fooooo keeps getting more multlilingual. It is now available in 11 languages including Russian, French, Chinese, and English. Fooooo started its beta version in Japanese in March 2007. It claims to index 28M movies/videos from 50+ sites around the world. Currently, 40% of the users are accessing the site from overseas.

Fooooo Director Tanaka Daisuke tells us that the company raised about 4M Yen or about $35K and is negotiating with some VCs to raise another $50-100K.

We do get the idea of multilingual video search as people in different countries are more likely to view viral videos coming from outside their own countries, which has its appeal for some.

We understand that some of the most popular viral videos in Japan cover a guy who calls himself "'Razor Ramon Hard Gay' He wears studded black leather, and goes around saying stuff like 'Hard Gay Power! Fooooooo!' and dry humping as many random people and objects as he possibly can."
