+ LastFM's 3 founders get to enjoy $38M apiece from their sale to CBS. Investor Index gets$56M and German investor Stefan Glaezener will get $44M.
+ Attributor. VC-backed online copyright protection's Attributor has won a big first deal to protect AP.
+ Chinese Virtual Economy. Entropia Universe has been chosen by the Beijing Municipal People's Government supported online entertainment company Cyber Recreation Development to create a cash-based virtual economy for China.
+ Spotrunner. VC-backed Spotrunner, which enables canned, low-cost video ads, has done an interesting partnership with LexisNexis to market video ads to local lawyers.
+ Football. Famed tech banker Bill Hambrecht has teamed with Google exec Tim Armstrong on an alternative to the NFL. They each ponied up $2M.

+ Clearmesh. Pasadena-based Clearmesh shut its doors after its funder, Idea Lab, grew tired of it. The company made ireless optical broadband equipment that apparently nobody wanted.
+ Fake Blogs. For those who want to blog but don't have time, this company offers software to auto-blog for you.
+ Spam Ass behind bars. One of the kings of spam has been sentenced to jail.
+ Joyo. No joy for Amazon's China subsidiary Joyo as about 20% of its publishing partners have stopped providing books to Joyo because Joyo did not make payments on time.
+ Six Apart CEO appologies and says he is mortified that they yanked down 500 sites they thought were pedophile sites. Their crime: discussing the novel Lolita.
+ Bay area Muni WiFi rollouts have fallen and they can't get up.
